Hello, my name is Binnie Barnes - I am a timeless beauty with the charm and spunk of my namesake! Life's been pretty ruff for me but now I'm part of the RCR family and could not be happier! You see, when I was just a puppy I was adopted from the pound and I was so excited to have a home of my very own. But it wasn't much of  a home after all. My new owner, put a chain on my neck and tied me up in the backyard where I lived all alone for six years. And then one day I guess they got tired of me being there and back to the pound I went to be put to sleep. But life had other plans for me!  The chain is gone now and my wounds have healed and the vet says my fur will grow back in no time! My skin showed the typical signs of life outside but now that I'm inside and getting lots of TLC, my fur is coming back and it's beautiful! Who cares about a little missing fur anyway, right? I am now in a super fun board/train program where I'm learning all my manners - I'm a star pupil! My teacher says I'm super smart, eager to please, and just love to soak up the attention and affection I've waited my whole life for! Now I'm ready to find my happily ever after - my friends at Red Collar told me that there's a very special family out there for me and I can't wait to find them! Will you be my hero? I promise to love you forever and ever!  Contact for more information.

Binnie Barnes is being fostered in HOUSTON, TX. The Houston area adoption fee is $300. Out of state adoption is available; fee for out of state is $500 which includes flight, kennel, and bed.

Why should you consider adopting a dog from Houston?

Houston is the #2 kill city in the U.S.  City and County shelters often take in a combined 200-300 animals per day. The number of homeless pets and resulting euthanasias are staggering -- the average "live release rate" from Houston area shelters is only about 35-50%. Houston is estimated to have over 1 million homeless animals.   Over 100,000 are killed in Harris Co shelters every year.  Red Collar Rescue volunteers work tirelessly to save as many as we can, but the Houston area is saturated with so many pets in need of a home and not enough adopters. To put it simply, we encourage out of state adoptions because it helps us save more lives.  We hope that you will consider one of our many adoptable pets who are waiting for a second chance at a forever home - wherever it may be!

Our Adoption Process...

Red Collar Rescue works hard to find the perfect home for all the dogs and cats in our care. Listed below is the sequence of events that we go through to assure that our pets and our applicants are the perfect match for each other:

1. Fill out and return our adoption application form.

2. After receiving your application, we will verify with your vet the care on your current or previous animals.

3. We will contact you to discuss your current situation and which pet you are interested in adopting.

4. After discussion, we will arrange a time for you to meet your prospective new family member.

5. If the initial meeting goes well, we make an appt and bring the pet to your home to meet all family members - human and furry.

6. Upon agreement by all parties, the adoption is finalized by signing the adoption contract and making an adoption donation for your newest family member.
