My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

We would like to explain that if you are looking for a perfect dog, they are rarely found in rescue. Our dogs often have unknown histories and we do our very best to evaluate each dog with kids, cats, and other dogs as well as determine how they behave in a home. It is important to understand that we have some specific criteria for each dog based on their backgrounds and input from their foster families. The purpose of these criteria is to better match each dog with an appropriate family. While a certain dog might appeal to you based on breed, size, gender or appearance, you may not match the listed criteria. Please understand that we are not trying to make adoption difficult—we are trying to make each adoption successful for the dog and the new family.

If you have children, we suggest that prior to applying for a dog, you view the website http://www.livingwithkidsanddogs.com. The information is excellent and can help you determine which dog would be right for your family.
Candy is a sweet 7-8 year old beagle basset who lost her home when her human went into a care facility. She is a nice size at 45 pounds and is usually pretty happy and easy going. She does best with male dogs but not too well with small dogs. Candy is good with older kids, like 10 and up. Like most hounds, she does require a fenced yard as he nose will carry her on adventures! Candy is very sweet and loves to be petted and thinks she is a lap dog. Her health is excellent and she is completely updated on all her of veterinary needs. Candy is house trained as long as she is let out regularly. It is best to kennel her when her humans leave but she enjoys being in her kennel and napping. Candy’s adoption fee is $200 and she is with Happy Hound Rescue, a 501c3 all volunteer rescue and is in a foster home.
