My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Copper (aka Santa's Little Helper) is a very special boy, indeed. He loves loves loves other dogs and despite being all legs, is the best little cuddler out there! He has been in a foster home for about 6 months now working so very hard on overcoming some anxious tendencies. He has come so far in just that short time and is getting better every day. The anxiety presents itself when new people enter the house, especially men. It is in no way aggressive behavior. Mostly barking and pacing but with the right techniques, he calms down fairly quickly. He is learning to trust people more and more every day. The most recent hurdle he overcame was taking a drive to the dog park. While still a little nervous in the car, he does well, especially with another dog in the car or sitting on a human lap. He absolutely LOVED the dog park and the socialization with both the dogs and humans has been invaluable. He's currently fostered with 4 other dogs of all ages, sizes and sexes and does great with all of them. He thrives being part of a pack so will need to go to a home with at least one other confident dog. He has stolen the hearts of his foster mom and dad but they know it's time for Copper to leave the nest and find a home of his very own. Given his nervousness around a large group of people with whom he is not familiar, Copper may not be at all adoption events but approved adopters can set up a meet and greet at any time!

This dog is spayed/neutered, up to date on vaccinations and current on flea/tick and heartworm preventative. This dog has tested negative for heartworms. The adoption fee is $375 if your adoption is prepaid and final prior to your dog's arrival. An additional $50 will be charged on dogs that are picked up from our Southbury CT adoption center, adopted at an event or foster home. This additional fee is necessary in order to comply with CT HB 5368.
If you are a MA resident, your new family member is required to go through a mandatory 48 hour quarantine period at our Woburn MA isolation facility. Your new family member will be dropped off by our transport on Thursday and will be ready for you to pick him/her up on Saturday between noon and 2pm. An additional $100 fee will be added for puppies picked up from our Woburn MA quarantine facility. This additional fee is necessary in order to comply with MA Order 405-CD-12 and Order 1-AHO-05.
