Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Akihiko means bright prince in Japanese; he is a four year old male Black and Tan Shiba Inu from S. Korea. He had an awesome dad who took him around the world with him, and always did everything together. His parent’s work transferred them to a country that has made it nearly impossible for him to go with them; so his heart-broken parents cried when they said goodbye to him and asked DCSIR to find him a home that would love him and keep taking him on adventures.
Akihiko gets along well with other dogs and loves going on walks. DCSIR discovered that he is heartworm positive, so he had to complete an extensive medical treatment before being available for adoption. If you would like to contribute to Akihiko's heart worm treatment fund, please note "Akihiko's Fund" in the notes at http://bit.ly/VzmJ7D
Akihiko is high energy and very playful; he would love a forever family who would keep him busy and active!
Update: Akihiko is now available for adoption, but only to a dog savvy owner who can manage his environment. Application finalists will be required to meet with the DC SIR approved force-free dog trainer.
