'Your final stop for your furever friend!'

Leonard's mom and three other dogs (Mountain Curs) were dumped in rural Livingston Parish in June, 2015.  On September 13th, Leonard's mom was brought into foster care and shortly after midnight on September 14th, she began having puppies.  Leonard has been in foster care since his birth and is ready for his forever home.

Their Mama (Mama Honey) weighs in the mid-40 lbs range.  We are not 100% who the daddy is, but if it's the one I think it is - he weighed around 70-80 lbs most likely.

Leonard can be pushy with his litter mates.  He has lots of fun playing with them, but can get rough.  He will most likely need an experienced dog owner to keep him in line.

For more information on the puppies and the three adult females that were dumped, please go

Please email to request an adoption application.  Adoption fee is $100.  All puppies will be spayed/neutered prior to placement.

We require that ALL current household pets be spayed/neutered, up to date on vaccinations and up to date on heartworm prevention. We will require confirmation from your veterinarian. If renting, we must have landlord approval. A fence is not a requirement for ALL of our dogs. Fences are a case-by-case determination.

Our Adoption Process...

The Pit Stop adoption process:
You will first need to complete a Pre-Adoption Application. Once you have returned the application, we will review it and send it back to you with any questions/concerns that we may have. If all checks out, you will be approved.
One approved, we will come out to your home for a home visit and bring the dog(s) that you are interested in adopting or dog(s) that we believe would be a perfect fit for you and your family.
Once the home check is complete and approved, we will offer to have the dog you are interested in stay with you for a few days to make sure everything works out. If everything works out, you are ready to adopt!
During the adoption, there will be a contract that will be signed, one copy for adopter & one copy for the rescue. We will provide you with all current vet records. In the contract, you agree to not neglect the dog, not tie up the dog, keep dog current on vaccination & you agree to allow your vet to release all records to the rescue as we will follow up. We will do un-scheduled home visits to check to make sure the dog is being taken care of. In the contract, you will agree to update us on change of address/phone number and keep us current with happy trails and pictures.
