My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Are you looking for a special companion with a heart of gold and with eyes that will melt your heart? Then Bullet is the dog for you!

Bullet came into rescue through no fault of his own. He was sadly an afterthought for his former owner. Bullet lived tied to his dog house for the past 9 years and we suspect from boredom or his determination from freeing himself from the chain, he would chew on it until his front teeth were worn down exposing the nerves. Because of this it was decided that it would be best to remove Bullet’s worn down teeth. As soon as this was done, his gusto for his food was seen. He was finally able to eat and enjoy his meals and treats without the pain and discomfort from his teeth. He still has his canines and molars, so don’t let his front gummy smile deter you from loving this sweet boy. His foster home has given him the nickname “Gummy Bear” and he wags his tail whenever you call him this. It was also found that Bullet (and his friend Chase who is also up for adoption) was heartworm positive. While we were sad this was the case, we were not surprised as he lived outdoor his whole life. At least it was a mild case and he was treated to rid of the heartworm for good. Bullet took the long treatment in stride with the help of the great people at the vet and the support from all his friends at ANML-RESQ and came through with flying colours.

Bullet is a quiet boy who enjoys lounging around close to his people on a soft doggy bed or by your feet. He is the type of dog that likes to be close by but not necessarily right on you at all times. Bullet also enjoys going for car rides and going for leisurely walks. He is more reserved and needs a home that will be patient with him in terms of moving at his own pace. He has done well meeting other dogs and is respectful with new dogs. Bullet is more of a “peoples” dog in terms that he craves human affection more than canine. This being said, Bullet could live happily with another quiet and calm dog or as an only dog, as long as his people shower him with lots of love daily. Bullet is an older boy at 9 years of age, he would make a great companion to a retired person or couple who are looking for a dog that is past the puppy stage. He would thrive in a quiet home where commotion is not a common household occurrence. He is non-destructive and is fully housetrained. If you feel Bullet is right for you, please fill out an adoption application or contact us for more information.
