My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Lettie is a super-sweet 5-year-old cutie who was turned in to a small shelter east of Houston as a found dog. She was never claimed, so a shelter volunteer notified our organization of her need for rescue. We of course said, YES, we will help her, and Lettie made her way to Houston. Lettie is a petite 13+ inches tall and 23 pounds. She tested heartworm negative and is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, and ready to find a forever home. Our veterinarian found evidence of a heart murmur when checking her over, so we took her to a veterinary cardiology specialist and had an echogram test done on her. Fortunately the test results were very good, and we have a full report from the doctor to provide to her potential adopter.

This cute little beagle girl is doing well in her foster home. She knows how to use the dog door and loves going on leash walks and car rides. She is crate trained, but can be trusted to roam free in the house. She does like to alert with a bark if she hears strange noises outside, so would not be a good match for an apartment home.

Although Lettie gets along well with her foster beagle siblings, she is not interested in playing with the pack; rather, she prefers human attention above doggie companions. Big dogs are a bit scary to her. She likes to claim a soft dog bed in the area near the humans, getting up and following if there is any change in location! If Lettie were a little kid in a classroom, she would want to be that darling little girl who just wants to please the teacher!

Lettie loves to cuddle once she gets to know you. She will give a nice little kiss on your nose if you are lucky! Her favorite time is watching TV on the bed with the humans in the evening, where she can stretch out next to you. She absolutely wants to live in a home where dogs are allowed on the bed, and will be quite disappointed (and even resistant) if there is a rule to the contrary! Lettie has a sweet, quiet temperament that should match up well with a low-energy family looking for a loving companion.
