My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

My name is Arwen. I was named after a sweet but tough princess in Lord of the Rings. My foster mom says that's just like me! I was born under a deck in June, and the family that found me was really nice and caught all of my siblings too. Originally they thought I may be feral, and I was going to be put back outside after I was spayed, so the tip of my left ear was cropped. My foster mom decided we were too nice to go back outside, so she found all of us rescue groups to help us find forever “inside” homes. I was the smallest, so she decided to foster me herself so she could be sure I'd get a really nice home who would understand that I was a bit shy and probably wouldn't like visitors trying to pet me. I have so many kitten friends to play with right now that I would not be happy to be alone. In fact I am VERY vocal about being alone. A kitten friend is a must! I am a typical kitten, I love to play with anything that moves. I love to cuddle, and in fact it is so hard for me to stop purring when you’re holding and cuddling me that the doctors say it’s really cute but it's hard for them to listen to my chest because I won't stop purring. I like other cats and kittens. I don't mind loud but polite dogs. I don't think I would like kids because they move fast and might want to chase me to pick me up. I don't like to be chased and I hide when someone does. In short, I have beautiful blue eyes, an ear that isn't pointy, I love to cuddle but not people who chase me to pick me up, I love to play, I hate to be alone and I am wonderful :)! Could you please take me home?

Behaviorally and socially, it’s best to adopt young kittens in pairs, or into a home with a playful cat. Arwen must have a playmate in her forever home…and then they can play and snuggle while you're not home. Check out our Pick A Pair page to see if one of her foster buddies are still available. They’re already great buddies who LOVE to play and cuddle together! Or, at this young age, kittens from different litters can easily be mixed ‘n matched with minimal transition time. If there is already another playful cat or kitten in your house, that would work out too…she already proved she is great at making friends!

If you are only interested in adopting a single kitten, and you’re home most of the day, and able to spend interactive time with a kitten, we will consider adopting out a kitten older than 4 months of age. Each foster home knows the kitten’s personalities best, and we follow their recommendations for single placements – in Arwen’s case, she cannot be the only cat in the house.

You can meet Arwen at Wilmette Pet, 625 Green Bay Road, anytime during store hours 7 days a week. (847-251-6750 www.wilmettepetcenter.com). Although you may want to adopt her on the spot, please know that you will have to go through the application process first.

Arwen’s estimated date of birth is 6/22/15 and her adoption fee of $135 includes her vet exam, FVRCP (distemper combo) vaccination, FIV & Feline Leukemia testing (neg), routine deworming, flea control, microchip and spay.
