MJ's Story...
While visiting a cemetery, a faint "mew," heard by the sister of one of our volunteers, led her to a gravesite, where a kitten only days old had been abandoned. She scooped him up and took him home. Our volunteer then brought him into our shelter for a checkup and signed on to foster this tiny little boy in her home. She named him MJ. That was four months ago.

Having three cats of her own, they rallied around this tiniest of kittens and taught him how to play nice. MJ loves people, loves to play and loves to snuggle on her lap. He's full of curiosity and, with boundless energy, comes when called.

We are thankful MJ was found and is being cared for by his foster mom, but he needs a permanent, loving home, where he need not worry again about being abandoned. If you would like to see what a doll MJ has become, please contact Al-Van Humane Society.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

MJ, a South Haven Domestic Shorthair cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Shorthair for sale in South Haven, or seeking a Domestic Shorthair cat from a breeder in South Haven.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in South Haven already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a South Haven breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in South Haven paves the way for another one to be saved.
