My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

COURTESY POST

CALIOPE HAD A WARM HOUSE, PLENTY OF LOVE AND A LAP TO CUDDLE UP ON UNTIL ONE DAY HER DEVOTED OWNER LEFT AND NEVER RETURNED. THEN THE WARM HOUSE BECAME COLD AND DARK AND THE ONLY TIME SHE SAW ANYONE WAS WHEN THEY BROUGHT FOOD TO HER. THEN ONE NIGHT THE PEOPLE WHO BROUGHT THE FOOD PUSHED HER OUT OF THE HOUSE AND CLOSED THE DOOR. THE FERALS LIVING OUTSIDE DID NOT ACCEPT HER AND CHASED HER AWAY FROM THE FOOD.
CALIOPE WOULD COWER IN THE BUSHES AWAY FROM THE OTHERS. SHE WAS NOT FERAL AND DIDN'T KNOW THE WAYS OF LIVING ON THE STREETS. FRIGHTENED, SHE JUST KEPT AWAY FROM THEM LONELY AND ABANDONED. A GOOD SAMARITAN STARTED TAKING FOOD TO THE FERALS, SHE NOTICED THAT CALIOPE WAS NOT LIKE THE OTHER CATS, SHE WANTED LOVE AND WOULD FOLLOW HER TO HER CAR, SHE WANTED LOVE MORE THAN THE FOOD SHE WAS BRINGING TO HER! SEEMS THAT THE OWNER HAD TO GO TO A NURSING HOME AND THE POWER WAS TURNED OFF IN THE HOUSE. THE PEOPLE WHO WERE TO CARE FOR HER DIDN'T WANT TO HAVE AN INDOOR CAT AND PUT HER OUTSIDE TO FEND FOR HERSELF. CALIOPE IS A LONG HAIRED CALICO, 1.5 YEARS OLD, FULLY VETTED, LOVES PEOPLE AND HAS BEEN COMBO TESTED. CALL 704-500-4166 FOR MORE INFO AND A MEETING. SHE IS IN FOSTER CARE.

The adoption fee for adult cats is $75.00 and up, kittens $150.00. The fee includes spaying or neutering, current vaccines, de-worming, a combination test for Feline Leukemia (FeLV) / Feline Aids (FIV) and fecal testing for intestinal parasites. Your first step in adopting a new family member is to fill out an adoption application. The adoption form must be filled out completely with phone numbers and a vet reference (even an old one, or a reason there is not one) before it will be processed. Your application will not be processed without this information. Please visit our website at www.humanesocietyofiredell.org to download an application, or email a request for an application to iredellhumane@yahoo.com. Please fax your application to 704.663-3353. Thank you for your interest in our animals!
