My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

What is your name?
My name is Oakley!

How old are you?
I am 7 months old.

What do you look like?
I am a big boy! I am about 60 lbs and still growing! I am all white with a black patch over my left eye and right ear. I have a cute and speckledy pink piggy nose. My foster mom says I am so soft and squishy. She always brags about my floppy jowls, adorable neck rolls, and soft bunny-rabbit fur.

What do you like to eat?
I like to eat anything I can get my mouth on… I am still learning that I should not chew on the toddler’s toys or my foster momma’s couch cushions. But I am a good boy, I listen right away when my momma tells me no and then she trades me for something yummy like an antler or a marrow bone.

What kind of personality do you have?
I am a lover! I really, really, want to cuddle, A LOT! I can get silly sometimes; I do like to play, but I am pretty lazy for a puppy. My energy runs out quick and then I just want to cuddle! My foster mom calls me a Velcro dog because I try to be next to her at all times. Sometimes she makes me lay in my bed so that I learn to relax on my own too.

Describe your perfect day:
I have so much fun in the backyard playing with sticks and other toys I can chew on. I love to chase toys and sometimes I will even bring them back to you! I'm learning how to walk on a leash and I love to go to training class with my foster family. When it’s time to settle down in my crate, I love to get a frozen peanut butter Kong to chew on. At night sometimes my foster mom will let me jump up on the bed and cuddle for a T.V. show, I lay right down next to her and I am snoring within minutes!

What is your favorite toy?
I love soft toys but my mom puts them up after we play fetch with them so that I don’t chew them up. I also really like to chase balls.

Do you know any tricks?
My main trick right now is learning how to sit and lay down. I am a quick learner!

What scares you?
Not much seems to scare me. If the other dogs play too rough with me I just flop down on my side, I am a soft boy.

Do you like cats?
I haven't had much experience with cats.

Do you have any doggie best friends?
I have a foster brother and sister dog, we all get along great. I am part of a lot of large play-groups and all of the dogs seem to like me. I am easy to get along with.

If you could be anywhere in the world, where would it be?
It is a toss-up between my foster momma’s bed and in the yard playing with the dogs!

How is your health?
My health is great!

Who do you live with in your foster home and who is your closest companion?
I live with dogs, grownups, a nine-year-old and a toddler! I am great with everyone.

Where do you hang out when you are home alone?
When I am the only one in the house, my foster parents put me in my crate. I feel safe in my crate and don’t mind lying in there until someone comes home to play with me!

Where do you sleep?
If I am lucky, I get to sleep in the big, comfy bed with my foster mom, but on most nights I sleep in my crate. I don’t mind sleeping in my crate because it is filled with plenty of warm blankets!

What do you love about your foster family?
I love that my foster family rescued me and is taking the time to work on my training since I will grow into a very big boy! I am so lucky and proud to be an EC dog!

What was life like before you were rescued by Even Chance and brought into the welcoming arms of your foster parents?
I was surrendered to a shelter along with my brother. The family surrendered us because we were given to them as tiny puppies as a gift and then we grew to be too big.

Even Chance does not operate on a first come, first serve basis. In most cases we have already decided the type of home and owner we want for each of our dogs. These opinions are based on the temperament tests we perform prior to accepting the dog into our program and the behaviors the dogs display as they acclimate into their foster home. Our agency reserves the right to deny acceptance of any dog to an owner who we feel the lifestyle does not match that of the dog. We are in no way judging you or your lifestyle; we simply want our dogs to be matched up to the best living situation per their individual personality, needs and preferences. We take very seriously the decision we make when it comes to placing one of our dogs in a forever home.

If I sound like the perfect pit bull for your and your family and you are interested in giving me a forever home, do not hesitate! Please fill out an application here and my foster family will contact you to schedule an in-person meet and greet. We look forward to meeting any and all interested applicants.
