Rocky's Story...
Like a rock, I was strong as I could be.
Like a rock, nothin ever got to me.
Like a rock, I was something to see.
Like a rock…… and then something changed. I was in a strange place and I was scared. It was a humane society, how did I end up there? I was a stray running loose on the streets. That shelter was fine and all, but I was there a long long time and I really want to find a home of my own. That’s when I got transferred here to Family Dogs, in hopes that maybe a change of scenery will help. Now I am able to run and play with other dogs and I really am having a blast here but what I am truly waiting for is a new place to call my own. An actual home. It would love a home with children 5+, I think other dogs are great too, and I really love chasing cats. I have had just a little training but I am crate trained already. If you are looking for a new buddy, a lifelong companion, I will be your Rock. 4 years old-60lbs. My adoption fee is $160 and includes; current shots, neuter, microchip, 5 week Training Class, free veterinary exam (Portland/Milwaukie area) ,1 month pet health insurance, leash/collar, food sample, toy & Treat packet.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Rocky, a Portland Labrador Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Labrador Retriever for sale in Portland, or seeking a Labrador Retriever dog from a breeder in Portland.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Portland already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Portland breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever breeders who help with Labrador Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Portland paves the way for another one to be saved.
