My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi! My name is Potter and I'm a three year old chihuahua. My life started out kind of rough but it's getting better now. My original people lived in a housing project and weren't allowed to have dogs so they left me outside a lot to roam the neighborhood. I'm just little and I don't have a lot of hair and sometimes it would get so cold! I started running to the same house all the time and there was a lady there who would feed me and keep me warm. Then my people would show up and take me back home but it wasn't long before I was back outside again. Finally the people got evicted and they just left me. I made my way to the nice lady's house and she took me in but I only got to stay there for a couple of days because her dogs didn't like me very much. So she tried to give me away on a free site but her neighbor saw my picture and came and got me right away. She said she knew people that would make sure I was never cold or hungry again but in the meantime I could stay with her until I found the right people for me!

I'm super happy in my foster home. Since no one took care of me I had fleas and my nails were overgrown and my ears were really dirty. But my foster mom owns a groom shop so she gave me a good bath and took care of my nails and ears. I felt so much better! I get to go to work with her sometimes and I like to lay in my fluffy bed and watch all the dogs come and go. I love other dogs and like to play and wrestle even when they are a lot bigger than me! I'm not scared! I go to the door when I need outside and I'm not protective of my food at all. I don't have to worry anymore because I know I'll get another meal when I get hungry. I'm still learning what toys are, I have never had those before. They have a water dish here that fills itself and at first it scared me because it made noise but I'm brave now. I'm very gentle and sweet and my favorite thing in the word is to cuddle on laps or in a bed. I hope the people that pick me like to cuddle as much as I do!

So that's my story. It started out sad but with the help of lots of good people, I think it's going to have a happy ending! Apply for me at www.ldrofohio.org!

Our adoption process starts with our application. Once the application is approved, a member of Legacy will contact you to set up a home visit. The home visit usually last 1-11/2 hours and is to make sure our dog and any current dogs/cats are getting along, as well as both of us agreeing it's a fit. At this time the adoption fee is due, and begins the 2 week trial. We will check in during the 2 week trial. If it's not working, our dog is returned to the foster home and all except $50.00 of the adoption fee is returned. At the end of the 2 week trial, you decide if you will finalize the adoption - if finalized, the Adoption Contract is signed and all medical records are turned over to you. If at any time you need to rehome the dog it contractually needs to be returned to Legacy Dog Rescue.

ADOPTION FEE's:
Puppies under 6 months: $199.00
Adults: $150.00
Seniors (over 7 yrs): $99.00
