Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Please contact Southern California Dachshund Relief at: Dena@SCDR.org, and not the rescue group connected to this page. The best (and preferred) method of contact for quick response is by way of e-mail. Please read dog’s entire bio before contacting rescue.
Cinder is an adorable 2 year old doxie mix weighing about 12 pounds. His brindle and white coat is soft and lush, especially those white furs under his chin and neck. What he is mixed with is anybody’s guess. He has shorter legs, dachshund “ballerina feet”, the long body, and floppy ears. Most importantly, he thinks he’s a dachshund. Apparently, Cinder was adopted from a high-kill shelter not knowing if he was good with cats or not. Turns out he was not. His new home had two cats. This is not a good set up for Cinder. When his owner contacted us asking for help in finding a new home for him, how could we say no?
He is just so sweet. He loves to be held like a baby and kissed, returning affection tenfold. He is crate trained and he is 100% house trained. He is quiet and gentle with his person, enjoying cuddling and belly rubs while watching TV. He is not protective of his bowl or toys either. He is safe to leave home alone, as he just naps and waits patiently for his family to return.
Cinder is fine around adults and children. He gets along with other dogs, but a female companion would be preferred. He can be an “only dog” if his people don’t leave him home alone for long hours every day. Cinder loves going for walks. He likes car rides if they are not too long.
Cinder is healthy, his shots are current, and he is microchipped. We are looking for a home for Cinder where he will get some basic obedience training. He is very smart and picks things up quickly. He deserves to be fussed over, and spoiled rotten. If you work from home or are recently retired, then you would be an ideal home for Cinder. He is not a big-time barker. Do you live in a multi-level dwelling? Great! Cinder has no problem going up and down the stairs. If you are interested in Cinder, please contact Dena@SCDR.org.
