Thinking about bringing Buddy or another wonderful Senior Springer into your family? Read why rescuing Senior Springers is a top priority for ESRA.
Buddy is a sweet and adorable old guy who is a typical Velcro Springer. He follows his foster mom around, always wanting to be close. He is calm and easygoing after he has had time to adjust to new situations. Buddy gets along with the resident animals at his foster home. He's gentle with the younger dogs and basically ignores the cats. Buddy is perfectly housetrained and has free roam in the house while his foster mom works. He hasn't been exposed to children since he has been in foster care, but he would likely do well with older, less rambunctious kids. He would just not be able to move out of the way quickly enough to avoid a possible injury.

Buddy came to ESRA confused and heartbroken, as his elderly owner was no longer able to provide care for his dogs. Buddy came into rescue with an older lifelong companion dog, and we think he is most comfortable living with another canine. He is adapting well in his foster home.

Buddy has some mobility issues due to arthritis. ESRA is providing the needed veterinary attention to maintain and, we hope, increase his mobility and comfort. Buddy will need to be placed in an environment without a lot of stairs, since stairs seem to be difficult for him to maneuver. He gets around pretty well otherwise, with a little help here and there, and he likes going for short walks to the end of the block and back. He is taking 100 milligrams of Rimadyl per day, and this medication is helping to relieve the inflammation and pain.

This dear old boy has captured the hearts of everyone who has met him. Do you have a place in your heart and home for a sweet senior dog? Buddy just needs a soft place to spend his remaining years, surrounded with love and kindness.

Please note that an approved adoption application is the first step in a more thorough interview process that is designed to match each dog to exactly the right family, and that the final decision rests with the dog's case manager.

Please read the Adoption FAQ and get an Adoption Application approved before inquiring about Buddy.
