I am already neutered, up to date with shots, and good with dogs.
Little Spot put us through quite an adventure but is finally safe with us today! Yesterday as we were driving through a bad neighborhood on the way to a local pound we saw him running across the road and scavenging for food. He was clearly matted and neglected but very scared and wouldn't approach or allow us to catch him even for food. He ran back to a house where we saw another smaller dirty white dog, also scared and matted. No one was home at the house, but a neighbor told us the dogs roam loose all the time and when inside are alone on the second floor which had no electricity, and that the owners were looking to give the dogs away anyway. We were able to corner and catch the white dog (who turned out to be Spot's daughter/mate Snow, a 4 year old Maltese/Shih tzu/poodle also now up for adoption) when she ran on a porch, but Spot wouldn't approach us or the neighbor. We left with just Snow for the day, and the neighbor promised to get in touch with the owners when they got home so we could make arrangements to pick up Spot and get both dogs surrendered to us. They finally got in touch with us later this morning and we were able to pick up spot while they were home and Spot and Snow have left their lives of neglect behind! Spot warmed up quickly once he realized we weren't going to hurt him and is a sweet boy who deserves better. He's a 6 year old Shih tzu/poodle mix who is good with other dogs and looking for a responsible adult home where he will get proper grooming and be kept safe for the rest of his life. We do not have a shelter- all our pets are in foster homes and can be seen by appointment only during the week, or at our weekly pet adoptions every Sunday at the Animal Clinic of Morris Plains from 12:30 to 3PM at 3009 Route 10 East next to 5 Star Car Wash (formerly Boulder Car Wash) in Morris Plains (Denville on GPS). To help us better match a pet to your household, we request you fill out an application on our homepage www.secondchance.petfinder.com and copy and paste it into an email, or print it and bring it to our adoption day when you come. Local inquiries only please- we do not do long distance adoptions.
