Hera's Info...

I am already spayed, up to date with shots, and good with kids.

Hera's Story...
Hera is a sweet dog who looks like a miniature lab, but with shorter than expected legs! She loves to be petted and loved on... she will snuggle right up to you wherever you are! She's a good snuggle size. She is curious about cats, but is learning and responding well to "leave it". Like all dogs, Hera needs leadership. She is very unsure around new dogs, and would be happiest as an only pet. She crates well and knows basic commands of sit and down. Hera has the fun (and "fun") behavioral traits of a Dachshund - she is energetic, spunky, and vivacious. Like a lab, she is super smart and learns quickly- she actually seems to enjoy our training and responds favorably when given clear directions. She will make someone an awesome pet- you can't help but fall in love with her shiny black coat, big soulful eyes and silky ears!

All of our dogs come spayed or neutered, fully up to date on vaccinations, including rabies (if age appropriate) and bordetella, are microchipped, heartworm negative, current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention, dewormed, and treated for any ailments found upon veterinary examination. The adoption fee covers a portion of these services, and makes it possible for us to continue rescuing animals.

For more information on the adoption fees and the adoption process, please complete our adoption application here: http://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt - an application allows us to get to know your family better so we can assess whether the animal you are interested in is a good match for your home. An application does not obligate you to adopt. You will receive an automated confirmation once your application is successfully submitted. Please understand that due to the volume of applications some animals receive, we are unable to contact all applicants. If your application is considered a good fit for the dog you are interested in, or even a different pet, a volunteer will give you a call ASAP.

We are a foster based rescue and do not have a shelter location where dogs can be seen during the week. Please see our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/LouiesLegacy for our weekly adoption album if you are interested in meeting a dog in person. Not all animals attend every adoption event, please check our Facebook page for animal event times and locations before you make a trip to meet a specific animal.

Thanks so much for caring about a needy animal!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Hera, a Cincinnati Labrador Retriever/Dachshund dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Labrador Retriever/Dachshund for sale in Cincinnati, or seeking a Labrador Retriever/Dachshund dog from a breeder in Cincinnati.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Cincinnati already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Cincinnati breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever/Dachshund breeders who help with Labrador Retriever/Dachshund rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Cincinnati paves the way for another one to be saved.
