Virginia is affectionately called Gigi! There is a lot of personality packed into her 12 pound Gigi . She is a black Affenpinsher born November 28, 2010, making her 6 years old. Gigi is an owner surrender who came to us when her owner had to give her up due to their own medical reasons.

Gigi is very outgoing, happy, bubbly, inquisitive and wonderfully affectionate, and her foster mom adores her. She gets along with cats, dogs, and older more mature children, and her foster mom thinks she is practically perfect! Gigi has blossomed into the ideal doggy companion since being in her foster home. They describe her as vivacious, a bundle of personality and a lot of fun. She is enjoying learning to be an adored pet and just loves it. Gigi is house-trained and playful, once she gets to know you. Although she is crate-trained, she has not been crated at all in her foster home and prefers not to be. If it is necessary, it should be only for her owner to run errands, not to be gone all day.

Gigi does love her fenced yard and romps around, being close to her people. Therefore, she definitely needs a fenced yard and an owner who is committed to going outside with her to insure her safety. She is very loyal and is not a hyper dog. She really loves to go bye-bye in the car and to take walks. Gigi has made a close attachment to another foster dog, a male, and she would like someone to take his place in her new home. She would prefer someone who works from home, can take her to work with them, or someone who is home most of the time.

Gigi is up to date on her vaccinations, heartworm negative, and has been spayed and given a clean bill of health.

We do not ship our rescues, and the adopter does have to travel to the foster home to pick up the dog, and we never place dogs with an electric or invisible fence. Pet doors are ok as long as they are closed and locked while the family is gone and at night.

About American Brussels Griffon Rescue Alliance, Inc. - VA

About Our Rescue Group...

ABGRA (American Brussels Griffon Rescue Alliance) & AAR (American Affenpinscher Rescue) is a non-profit national rescue group founded to rescue, rehabilitate and re-home Brussels Griffons and Affenpinschers. We strive to leave no Griff or Affen behind and rescue these breeds from commercial breeding facilities and city/county shelters when foster home space is available. We also accept owner surrendered Griffs and Affens. We are an all foster home based rescue that provides complete vetting for our dogs prior to adoption.

American Brussels Griffon Rescue Alliance Inc. (ABGRA) and American Affenpinscher Rescue (AAR) came into being to meet the needs of the Brussels Griffons and Affenpinschers who are abandoned, might be abandoned, or whose circumstances we can improve.
We are especially mindful of the Griffs and Affens that have spent their lives in commercial breeding facilities and who will have a chance at a better life through our efforts. We also rescue both breeds from animal shelters and accept owner surrendered Griffs and Affens.
ABGRA, & our subsidiary AAR, is a non-profit national rescue group.

Come Meet Our Pets...

All adoptions go through our website-
We do not have a kennel facility and place all of our Griffons and Affens by application. All of our rescued dogs are living in foster homes where public viewing is not possible.

Our Adoption Process...

Our adoption donations are from $200 - $350 and reflect the vetting costs incured for each dog as well as some dogs whose costs far exceed the donation.
We interview all references provided and require a home visit before placements. An adoption contract is required. If the dog is returned within 30 days, a refund will be issued. ABGRA requires adopters be 25 years old, or older, and are looking for stable permanent adoptors. In most cases, these breeds are not recommened for families with young children or for people who are not home for long periods of time. They are the perfect pet for someone who can take their dog to work with them, work from home, or are retired.
