My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Beauty and Beast have their own Facebook page. Now you can see for yourself how comic and sweet this pair is! Go to https://www.facebook.com/Beauty-Beast-A-precious-duo-waiting-for-their-forever-home-549028238584519/?fref=ts

Adopt-A-Pet required a bit of a workaround in order for us to post this extraordinary bonded pair and work is welcomed on behalf of this precious duo, Beauty (Staffordshire terrier mix) and Beast (Chow mix). Sometimes comical and always devoted to each other, these two landed in rescue for reasons unknown.

They have very clearly been at one time someone’s beloved dogs who have had considerable time and care invested in them. Foster mom cannot say enough good about them and shares with this rescue group video after video of the antics of Beauty and Beast. They are perfectly crate trained and will cuddle happily together in one crate. Beauty adores her Beast and will groom him with great concentration by licking his head and face. She also loves him enough to sit on him like he is a cushion and he loves her enough to tolerate that.

These dogs are very responsive to “No” and foster mom has worked them to off-leash obedience in their current country home. In one of her videos, she shows them being let out to go for a ride. They zoom off happily in the direction of the car. They both love to ride and are great car riders. In fact, Beauty is so anxious to get in the car, she hops up a little too soon and bops her happy little head on the tailgate. It wasn’t enough to hurt her, thankfully, or to squelch her enthusiasm for the upcoming ride.

When it is time for their people to eat, does this pair come to the table and make cow eyes hoping for a donated morsel as many of our dogs do? No, they go over and lie down together away from their eating caretakers. They get along grandly with people and other dogs and find squirrels an irresistible draw. They have not been cat tested, but given their squirrel racing, the cats might be just too tempting. On the other hand, their consistent responsiveness to “no” may bode well for resident kitties. They are wonderful on a leash and completely house-trained.

The only thing they don’t like is being separated, 3 year old Beauty at 54 lbs. and 6 year old Beast at 76 lbs. Foster mom says these are “dreams of dogs and like one dog in two bodies and whoever gets them is in for a treat. “ They are looking for a home where they will again be delighted in as they clearly have been before, only this time where they can stay.

If you are interested in adopting these dogs, please apply online, at http://www.bigfluffydogs.com/online-app.php. Our main website, www.bigfluffydogs.com has more information about us and the rescue process. NOTE TO EMAILERS FROM ADOPT-A-PET: WE DO NOT RESPOND TO EMAIL INQUIRIES WITHOUT AN APPLICATION. WE REGRET WE CANNOT RESPOND TO EVERY EMAIL, BUT UNLESS YOU FILL OUT AN APPLICATION, WE DO NOT KNOW YOU EXIST. All known information about an individual dog is provided in it's listing. We do our best to provide accurate information, but adopters must understand that each home is different and the dog may behave differently in a new home. Dogs are creatures of their environment and you help make the dog what it will be. Homes considering adopting a puppy must be prepared for:1.) Flexible schedules for potty training. Puppies can only "hold it" for one hour per month of age (ex. a 4 month old puppy can only go 4 hours without a potty break).2.) Crate training until the puppy is at least one year old, to prevent chewing on inappropriate things when you can't supervise.3.) Socialization: The more positive and varying experiences as a puppy the better, both in and out of your home.4.) Puppy behavior and life stages are equivalent to a human toddler. It takes at least a full year to have a calmer, well adjusted dog. Patience is required and when your dog's behavior is a positive experience for you and those around you, your patience will be rewarded tenfold, for years to come. Please do not consider adopting a puppy if you have not thoroughly thought through the pros and cons of having one. So many people end up returning them after 3-5 months because they didn't realize the amount of work involved in raising a puppy.Patience, appropriate toys, socialization, and obedience training are all musts. All are time consuming, and can be expensive. All Dogs Require:Supervision with children and obedience training. Adopters that want to have good dogs must be prepared to put the time and effort into training a dog. Any dog requires work and effort, but a well trained, well socialized dog is more than worth the effort put in to get them there.
