Helen's Story...
Beautiful 3 year old Helen was being cared for a by a very kind homeless man in Farmington. When she showed up one day with a crumpled ear, he realized that she needed vet care and reached out for rescue help. Helen’s collapsed ear is a result of a hematoma, possibly from an injury or infection. It is completely healed now, and only adds to her unique look!

As you can see from the big, round eyes, Helen is almost entirely blind. Her vision impairment bothers her very little, though. She eats, plays, and uses the litterbox like a fully sighted kitty. The vets think the vision loss happened as an adult, so at times Helen does become startled if someone touches her without speaking first. For this reason, she would also probably prefer a quieter home. Helen has had a little experience with dogs and other cats, and could probably share a home with other calm, non-aggressive pets, as long as they are introduced properly.

Helen responds to her name, and will come towards the sound of your voice. When she gets to you, she usually greets you with “head bumps”, purring all the while. She likes chasing toys with bells on them, especially stuffed ones that she can capture and “rabbit kick” with her back legs.

After play time, Helen likes to sit next to you for petting and brushing.

Won’t you consider this beautiful, unique girl? She is waiting to meet you!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Helen, a St. Louis Calico cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Calico for sale in St. Louis, or seeking a Calico cat from a breeder in St. Louis.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in St. Louis already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a St. Louis breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Calico breeders who help with Calico rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in St. Louis paves the way for another one to be saved.
