And now a few words from me:

Hi, my name is Eddie and I am a sweet, good-natured boy. And handsome, too! I am very attached to my foster mom and like to follow her everywhere. I am trying so hard to adjust to my new world, and am slowly becoming more comfortable with the people in my foster home, but the truth is that I am shy when meeting new people. I don’t like when the children and other dogs get attention that I think should be mine, but I am coming to understand that there is enough love to go around for everyone. I like to line up with the other dogs to get my treat after a walk, but I prefer to hide mine in the house to save it for later. This doesn’t always work out for me as the other dogs think I’ve left it for them. So I am learning to eat mine right away. I’m a smart boy! Would you like to hang out with me?

And now a few words from my foster family:

Eddie is a lovely dog and is very eager to please. He is gentle and quick to learn the routine of the house. He will need a family that makes him feel secure and safe, as he has been moved around a lot in his six years. He enjoys going for walks and playing with toys, and is also happy to curl up in a chair or in his bed for a nice nap. Eddie is crate-trained. He seems to have a low prey drive, and will stop chasing when told to do so. He has some issues with his teeth and struggles when it is time to brush them, so this is a work in progress. He will need a committed owner who will brush his teeth daily to prevent dental issues. He also has dry skin, which irritates him, and he needs to be reminded to stop scratching himself. The vet advises that a high quality diet will help improve the condition of his skin and ease his discomfort. Eddie is a sweet guy and has so much to offer to a special family that will continue to nurture him and help develop his confidence.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Eddie, a Toronto Dachshund dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Dachshund for sale in Toronto, or seeking a Dachshund dog from a breeder in Toronto.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Toronto already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Toronto breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Dachshund breeders who help with Dachshund rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Toronto paves the way for another one to be saved.
