Friends to the Forlorn

Breed: Pit Bull Terrier Mix
Gender: Female
Estimated Date of Birth: December 9, 2014
Size:  59 lbs
Location:  Canton, GA

Jetta, formerly known as Faith, was brought into Fulton County as a stray with a severely broken leg on November 29th, 2015. Ten days later she was still in the pound. One of our wonderful foster families stepped up for her and we were able to give Jetta her freedom ride. Her leg was severely broken and 4 times the size of her other leg. Our vet estimated her injury was over 2 weeks old and he did everything he could to try and save her leg. She had pins to hold the bone together and an external fixator to hold everything in place, but as soon as she had surgery, she developed a blood clotting disorder. With her auto immune issue, our vet felt it would be best to amputate so Jetta is now a tri-pawd!

Jetta is MUCH happier as a tri-pod! Despite everything she has been through, Jetta is an extremely sweet girl. She is a precious girl with the best kisses. She is patient, good with kids, and excited about life. She is wary of other dogs, though with time, she warms up to them. She is very protective of her food, water, and crate space with other animals, but when out in neutral territory, she plays well with most of the dogs in her foster home. Her ideal living arrangement would be with an active couple or family with no other dogs, though a submissive dog of similar size may work for her. She LOVES people and wants only to please them. She is very smart, easily motivated, and loves treats. Jetta has learned sit, kennel-up, and wait. She is also housebroken and crate trained.  Having three legs has not slowed her dog a bit! She will run, hop in the car, sit pretty, and play a great game of tug if you ask her to. She walks well with an easywalk harness, and enjoys the exercise and time spent with you. Her favorite pastime is belly rubs. She will lay on her back all day long, either enjoying her tummy rubs or asking for more!
