BEAUTIFUL BLUE PIT NEEDS A LOVING HOME.  This gorgeous fellow was rescued by a caring individual who is looking to place him in a loving home where he will be safe and treated like a family member. Buddy Blue is a young adult – maybe two years old. His rescuer has had him neutered and vaccinated. He also tested negative for heartworms.  Blue wants to be a house dog and does pretty well potty-wise when he is inside. Crating him when not supervised should complete the process. He’s playful with other dogs his size or larger, but is NOT cat-safe (and therefore should not be placed with smaller dogs, either). He is very friendly with adult men and women, but HIS RESCUER DOES NOT KNOW HOW HE REACTS TO CHILDREN. Blue is fairly high energy, so his adopter should be prepared to give him lots of exercise. His rescuer is looking for someone with a securely fenced yard with a fence at least 5 feet high. No cable runs or chaining! This dog is currently located in Kershaw County, SC. An adoption fee to help offset his vet costs is requested. For more information, please call 843-334-6565. Leave a message with your phone number if there is no answer.

About Save the Strays Animal Rescue

About Our Rescue Group...

Save the Strays Animal Rescue is an all-volunteer 501c3 public charity and no-kill humane organization founded in 2003. Our mission is to rescue and rehome unwanted and abandoned dogs and provide lifelong care for any that are not adopted.

All of our dogs receive age-appropriate vaccinations. Dogs six months and older are spayed or neutered and tested for heartworms before adoption. Some of the dogs we rescue and make available for adoption are older, have suffered injuries or have treatable medical conditions. These have included blind dogs, deaf dogs, dogs with amputations, congenital deformities, and limited mobility, and dogs with heart conditions, diabetes and other chronic disorders. We disclose all known health conditions to potential adopters.

Because we do not euthanize rescued dogs to make room for others, some of these dogs may be with us for a number of years or even for life. Your donations help us pay for the care they need to maintain a good quality of life.

Donate to Our Rescue Group...

All donations are fully tax-deductible and are used solely to care for animals' needs.

Come Meet Our Pets...

We periodically take adoptable dogs to Petco at 1265 Broad Street, Sumter, SC, for public "meet-and-greets." Check the Petco website for dates.

Our Adoption Process...

We are a home and foster care-based rescue, with no shelter facility or employees. Because our rescue dogs live in private homes, we ask those interested in adopting from us to complete our application as the first step in our process and only set up an appointment to meet the dog(s) in which they are interested after they are approved to adopt. Please email info@savethestrays.org to request an application.
