Meet Twiggy!
Thanks to a generous grant from Maddie's Fund, Twiggy’s adoption fee is WAIVED!

Twiggy is a fun loving, 2- to 3-year-old, 60 pound sweetheart of a dog. This girl wants nothing more in life than to please her people. She is very motivated to please and LOVES training. Twiggy has learned "sit," "stay," "drop," "down," "ok," "shake," "heel," and is working on "roll over."

This dog walks EXCELLENTLY on a leash and loves to go for walks. She is also perfectly happy playing fetch or just hanging out. Twiggy lives in a foster home with a 7-year-old and 2-year-old. She LOVES sitting and shaking hands with the kids for treats and she takes her treats oh-so-gently. This smart girl will sit and stay until given the "ok" to eat her dinner.

Twiggy has moderate energy, but adapts well to her family. If her foster mom wants to go for a walk or jog, she will happily oblige... if her foster mom wants to lay around, she is down for that as well. She will occupy herself with toys if someone is not playing with her or she will just nap in the sun. Twiggy does great in a crate and will go in immediately when her human says "crate." She is not destructive when left out of the crate (except for her toys). This dog would LOVE to swim, her foster mom had to keep her from jumping in the pond when it was cold out.

Twiggy has been with cats and dogs and has done well, but she does need proper introductions and reminders to keep play calm. Twiggy is truly a diamond in the rough. We would love to see her find her forever home. This girl really deserves it and will make one lucky family super happy!! Twiggy is spayed and up to date on all vaccines and heartworm negative. She is ready to find her forever home!

She is being fostered in West Bend, WI. Because all our Cupids are fostered in private homes, an approved application MUST be on file before proceeding with a meet-and-greet. The online application can be found at http://www.caninecupids.org/adopt-.html.

Our Thoughts on Visual Breed Identification
Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable. For most of our adoptable Cupids we are only guessing at the predominant breed or breed mix. We think it’s most important is to get to know each dog as an individual! We then do our best to describe each of our adoptable Cupids based on their personalities in order to determine whether they’ll make good companions based on prospective adopters’ lifestyles. Dog behavior is not exclusive to breed — it’s a complex mix of nature and nurture.

About Canine Cupids

About Our Rescue Group...

Canine Cupids' mission is to protect and improve the lives of Milwaukee's homeless, neglected, and exceptional needs dogs and to place them in permanent, loving homes.

Canine Cupids is a Certified 501c3 Organization
DATCPLicense: 288601-DS

Canine Cupids work with animals, within our community and throughout our organization is guided by three core values: compassion, integrity and dedication.

Because every animal deserves to be loved, we feel it is our moral responsibility to protect and improve the lives of abused, abandoned, and homeless dogs, and to place them in loving permanent homes.

We strive to work withMADACC as well as other rescues and humane organizations to develop a network of supporters and volunteers in order to create a better world for homeless pets within Milwaukee.

At Canine Cupids our founding principle is that "ALL dogs are individuals and deserve to be regarded as such". This mindset is core to the belief system at The Animal Farm Foundation. It assists in securing equal treatment and opportunity for "pit bull" dogs - as well as all dogs, regardless of size, color, etc.

"We owe it to all dogs to see them for who they really are, free of prejudice, stereotypes, and assumptions that are based on a known pedigree, a breed label guess, physical appearance, or their past history."*

"Breed related traits are not guaranteed. If a dog does conform to breed traits that does not mean a dog isn't an individual! Breed characteristics may contribute to a dog?s individuality, but they are not the whole story." *

Don't judge a book by its cover and don't judge a pooch by its stereotype!
