My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Senior Chi/Fox Terrier Mix Looking for to be your One and Only!

Her original mother had her for 7 1/2 years until her medical conditions seemed to cause her to no longer favor her furry siblings. After a couple incidents, Pippi was moved to temporarily live with her human uncle; which is not the greatest solution. Despite her age and her preference to be the only dog, she is sweet, loving, devoted and deserves a happy home. Her original mother hopes there is someone with a big heart for a senior dog out there!! ~~~~

Pippi is a 11-year-old Chihuahua / Toy Fox Terrier mix. She is about 15-16lbs currently, but her ideal weight is around 10-11lbs (see health below on why she is overweight). She loves playing with favorite tiny toys, chewing on Nyla bones, and cuddling. She is house-trained and sleeps overnight in a dog "playpen".

Health:
She has a few health issues (hypothyroidism and smaller-than-normal liver) for which she needs on-going medication and food. As long as she's cared for properly, the health issues are not a problem and not terminal. She needs two medications (Denamarin and Soloxin) in the morning and one at night (Soloxin again), plus prescription food (Royal Canin Hepatic). The meds and food cost approximately $4/day. When on her medications, she is a very loving, happy, and sweet dog. She loves walks, cuddling, and playing with her toys. If not on her meds (which I believe she is not currently getting), she will be depressed and very lethargic. It will also cause her to gain weight and have skin conditions.

Behavior:
Pippi is not at all dog-friendly and absolutely needs to be the only dog in the household. She will bond very closely with one to two people in a household and will attack other dogs that come into the house, trying to guard her humans. She walks well on a leash and is also fine when passing other dogs on walks. She is very leery of strangers. Pippi is good with babies and children (currently in a household with a toddler) but does not like to be carted around by children. She once shared a home with a kitten for a few weeks and was curious but otherwise left that particular cat alone. How she does with cats in general is unknown.
