My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

IDGSR WELCOMES VOLCKER INTO THE SAFETY OF THE RESCUE!!!!

Volcker came to IDGSR when he was found as a stray. It was clear that he suffered from some
form of either abuse or an accident. We had no idea what was going on because he walked as if
lame and or a severe injury. While it appeared he is not in pain, we had the vet do xrays.
At some point he has suffered from a spinal cord injury, how? where? when? no one knows those
details, so IDGSR just picks up the pieces and try to assess and just figure this all out.

Volcker loves people, both children and adults, it's hard to imagine that someone could of abandoned him some where in a remote area because that was where he was found. Since no one claimed him, our hearts wanted to help Volcker. He gets along with most other dogs males and females unless they are super dominant, he loves to fetch after his ball and is fairly well mannered. Other dogs at times make him anxious and he will bark at them however he plays well with some of the girls here.

Volcker came to us not in the best condition besides the injury. Surgery is not an option. Volcker can walk and run fairly well considering he has a significant injury, things could be worse, he may have been paralyzed and put down, but his will to live is strong and evident.

Over the last several weeks, Volcker has improved much, we are very happy for him, he is walking and running much better and the good diet, supplements, rest and light exercise has done much for his health and well being. While Volcker will never be a running partner or big hiker, nice walks, easy going would be just fine, while he may never be a super athlete, Volcker is not only gorgeous but he has so much love to give.
Volcker is a special needs dog IDGSR hopes that someone who understands special needs dogs and how much more deeply they love and appreciate what you do for them. IDGSR hopes and prays that there is someone out there who will be Volcker's hero and family. Please do not feel sorry for Volcker, he doesn't feel sorry for himself, Volck is just as happy go lucky in spite of whatever it was that happened to him, How resilient, How forgiving, How for the Love of God a dog can Love in spite of what has happened to him. He's not bitter, angry nor upset.
