SCR was requested by a city shelter to take Yogi in after he had been there for 4 months. His owner passed away and other family members couldn't take him. He quickly became a staff favorite. He pleased everyone even the TV studio staff when he was featured in a local adopt-me spot. Still no one came for him. Since we've had him, he has proved to be a very amiable, gentle and accommodating dog. Despite his size which ideally should be around 70 pounds, he is a pleasure to walk. Right now he could stand to gain a few pounds to reach the 70 mark. He lost weight while at the shelter having fun in daily play groups with the other friendly dogs. He gives cats and yappy chihuahuas a wide safety berth in passing. The shelter also gave him a dental cleaning in hopes of enticing adopters. Yogi is truly a dog lover's dog. Inch for inch, he gives as much love as any purebred collie but he has a few more inches.

About Southland Collie Rescue - San Diego County

About Our Rescue Group...

Southland Collie Rescue, Inc. (SCR), a non-profit corporation located in the Southern California area, coordinates for several Collie Rescues in the Southland. All of our Collie Rescues find homes for purebred Collies and, when possible, Collie mixes from shelters, from people who have taken in strays, and from owners who can no longer care for their Collie. We foster our rescued Collies in private homes throughout Los Angeles and adjacent counties.

Our Adoption Process...

Adoptions ONLY in Southern California

Adoption Information

All of our collies are healthy, altered and current on their vaccinations prior to placement. An application and home visit are required prior to adoption. An adoption donation is requested to cover costs of rescue, rehabilitation and re-homing collies.
