Here's what the humans have to say about me:
All potential adopter’s will need to be approved to adopt from MWBCR and should visit our website at www.mwbcr.org for more information on the approval process.

Nelson has been with us almost a month now and he has fit in perfectly. He gets along well with our three resident dogs and is very respectful of the cats. He is a bit reserved with people he does not know at first, but it only takes him a few minutes to warm up if treats are involved. Because he is very food oriented, he is very motivated to learn new things and likes to please. We are working on basic obedience and he is a quick study.
Nelson is housebroken and crate trained. He sleeps in our room at night and never makes a sound. I have also had him crated when we leave the house and up to 4 hours during the day to prepare him for a family that works outside the home.
Nelson did come to us with an existing elbow injury. He is currently on an anti-inflammatory and now does not seem to be bothered by it at all. He runs and plays with his puppy energy and is able to put complete weight on his left front leg, does not limp nor seem to favor it. I am having him evaluated by a holistic rehabilitation vet and I am waiting on her findings. Additionally, Nelson will be neutered this week so his vetting will be complete in anticipation of his adoption.
I find Nelson to be a companion, lower energy dog who will fit in well with other pets or as the only dog in the home. He loves his people and is quite fond of falling asleep in your lap. You will always find him close to your side.

Nelson has been with us for almost 2 weeks and has come a long way. He can be shy and reserved upon first greeting but warms quickly. He is small but packed with energy. Careful....if you get to his level he'll come bounding over with wet kisses! He takes treats gently and loves playing with treat dispensing toys.
When found as a stray in AL he came to the shelter with a dislocated elbow. He was in a cast for 3 weeks. Once he arrived into our care we had more X-rays done and seen by a Specialist. His elbow is no longer dislocated but because of the initial trauma there is significant arthritis. We are working with a team of veterinarians to find the perfect solution for Nelson to have a happy and comfortable life.
Nelson runs around and enjoys playing with other dogs. He has a little limp but has never "complained". He does well in his crate, never a mess and sleeps quietly through the night. He lets us know when he has to go potty.
Nelson is great with everyone he meets.....he prefers everyone to take it slow until he is comfortable. Over time this will improve. He has done well with small kids too.
My favorite thing about Nelson is his wiggly tush and sweet kisses. This boy loves a good belly rub too! He would love to ring in the New Year with you!
