My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Ziggy is an incredibly cute ball of cottony fur that climbs into your heart (and lap) with a wag. He's so sweet and so loving that it's impossible to imagine him in a high-kill shelter with a possibility of euthanasia...simply a matter of not enough space for the vast number of homeless dogs. Spay/Neuter almost never occurs and therefore the urgency goes on for babies like Ziggy. This puppy was recognized by our compassionate Kansas rescuer as having a great temperament and this earned him a ticket on transport to Colorado.

At 9 weeks old and about 4.5 lbs (anticipated to weigh about 10 - 12 lbs when full-grown), Ziggy is every bit the puppy...fun and active....but at the same time he's overjoyed to be loved up and cuddled. With kindness and clear guidance, Ziggy will keep his trusting and open attitude and develop into a loyal and devoted best friend.

At this very early point in Ziggy's development, he loves everyone..be it human, canine or feline. We want to nurture this positive vision of the world by matching Ziggy to a family who expresses their devotion for him in many different ways. It's so important for Ziggy (and all dogs) to attend puppy class to start the positive development of socialization skills. This would be followed by positive reinforcement group obedience classes to be the very best adult dog he's capable of being.

Right now, Ziggy is a blank slate who will soak up positive feedback with every effort to be the best behaved guy around. We'd love Ziggy to be with gentle older children due to Ziggy's tiny size or with an active adult family who will include him in their activities. Retirees would also be great..Ziggy would love lots of time spent together.

Ziggy is so portable that he can easily be a constant companion - he would love nothing more than walks, trips to the store (he'll be a great window-shopping friend) or even a place at a pet-friendly workplace. Ziggy is so young that he can be introduced to virtually any situation...and if there is love and gentle guidance...he can succeed. Ziggy's new family has to have the motivation and energy for a young puppy...he requires house training, behavioral guidance and tons of love to give him a positive attitude about the world.

Ziggy will not be neutered when he arrives in Denver -the Kansas shelter considers him too young to fix at this point. Farfel's will cover all costs to neuter, microchip and make sure Ziggy is up to date on his puppy vaccination schedule.. if our Denver vet is used.

Ziggy will be arriving on transport in Denver on Tuesday 12/29/15. Applications are currently being accepted and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/.
