Puddin''s Story...
This lovely older, orange lady was abandoned on the steps of Brooklyn Cat Farm in April of this year in appalling condition. Her coat was filthy, she was under nourished and terrified. The poor thing had no idea what was happening to her.

After the dirt and grime washed away, a thick, beautiful bright orange coat emerged (hence her name, Butterscotch Puddin'). As we've gotten to know each other, a refined, modest, playful little personality has emerged and, as it turns out, Puddin' is a real armful of lovin'! She makes expressive sounds, purrs up a storm for big, gentle bear hugs and squawks when it's dinner time. Besides being hugged by her foster mom, her favorite pastime is resting comfortably on a soft bed with her front paws crossed in a very lady-like fashion.

Due to a time in her life when she must have been without food or water, Puddin' came to me very insecure about meals. She is not able to be separated from the other cats so has constant access to food. Unfortunately, she tends to overeat and has put on weight from noshing on the other cats' food. While her health is generally good she would benefit from being an only cat in a quiet, loving household where someone can really dote on her health and manage her mealtimes and activity level. Other than that she's low maintenance and very appreciative of attention.

Puddin' is estimated to be about 8 years old and has many good years left of cuddling, company-keeping and conversation! She gets along well with the other cats, but my sense is that she would ideally be an only cat as she is a self contained and refined older lady with excellent manners who would love to be someone's one and only. Puddin' is spayed, fully vaccinated and microchipped.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Puddin', a Brooklyn Domestic Shorthair cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Shorthair for sale in Brooklyn, or seeking a Domestic Shorthair cat from a breeder in Brooklyn.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Brooklyn already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Brooklyn breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Brooklyn paves the way for another one to be saved.
