Meet Buckus!

Buckus was listed as urgent at Animal Control due to being stressed at the shelter. This was understandable for an approximate 8 year old guy who spent many years in a home. Buckus wanted to be part of a family again.

Buckus' time was up at the shelter when one of our supporters let us know about him. He had a day to find an adopter or rescue to step up and take him in. We posted a plea to find a foster for Buckus and an adopter of another Bella-Reed pup stepped up to foster!

Buckus' former owner surrendered him to the shelter because they could no longer care for him. They reported that he is an affectionate and playful dog that loves fetch. He has plenty of energy and is house trained! He was dog and cat tested at the shelter and passed with flying colors. His previous owners report that he is good with people of all ages, including children.

The shelter reports that Buckus seeks attention from whatever human is around him!

While Buckus is an oldie, he is definitely a goodie with a lot of spunk left in him!

Buckus will be fully vetted including vaccines, microchip, deworm, neuter, heartworm test prior to adoption. He will also receive monthly heartworm preventative. Once he is in our care, we will schedule Buckus for "senior panel" of bloodwork tests to be sure he is healthy and well.

Our Adoption Process...

Congratulations! Although, having a pit bull type dog is not for everybody. Unfortunately, breed discrimination is common; you need to stay positive and educate people when they criticize your companion. Renters struggle with finding pit bull friendly housing and some home insurance carriers won't cover them. Because we know how challenging it can be to navigate people's biases and misconceptions, we ask that you fulfill these requirements in order to adopt one of our dogs:

Be at least 21 years old.

Be able to meet the dog in question as well as do meet-and-greets with current pets. We do not ship dogs.

We adopt dogs 6 months and older within a 4 hour radius of our central location of Southampton, PA and pups under 6 months within 2-3 hours of our central location of Southampton, PA.
