PELLI (Grappelli) - Pownal, Maine

Sweet Pelli (short for Grappelli) is a three year old Border Collie/Flat Coated Retriever mix who weighs approximately 45 lbs. Unfortunately, due to the recent addition of a baby to the home, Pelli is now looking for a new forever family.

Pelli loves people! He loves to walk and run in the woods, at the beach or anywhere but also enjoys sleeping in the grass or on a sofa for an entire day. Pelli would prefer a home in the country with lots of room to run. He is extremely food motivated which is helpful for training but has also been known to steal a squash or two from the garden.

Pelli has been around many cats, including staying in the same house with a few for 2-3 days. He is wary and respectful but interested as well. He could easily learn to get along. If anything, the cat would have the upper hand.

Pelli loves other dogs. He has many dog friends. He has been boarded at Charlie's friends in Cumberland (a Free range doggie daycare) many times and LOVES it. He is great as part of a pack. He is initially scared of really big furry dogs and some very small dogs, but gets over his fear once he gets to know the dog.

Pelli is trustworthy in the home when left alone and does not require a crate.

He has been trained for basic commands and is a smart dog who wants to please. Some commands Pelli knows are: "sit, stay, wait, heal, down (selectively), come(consistantly), do your thing (go to the bathroom)" He is also great on leash walks.

He enjoys stuffed animals - He thinks they are his "friends"

Pelli has had many friends that are children but is scared of/nervous around babies. As a result, Pelli would be happiest in a home without toddlers (children under 5).

An ideal home for Pelli would be:

-- One where he will receive lots of exercise (the Border Collie in him requires it!)
-- One where he will not be left alone for long periods of time
-- One with a fenced in yard
-- One without small children.

This is one fun dog! If you have room in your heart and in your home for Pelli, please contact: ddbmaine@yahoo.com
