My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi all Beagle fans. My name is Corrine, or as foster daddy calls me, Rinnie, because he says every beag needs a nickname. He says there are a lot of people out in the big world looking for a beagle for their home, and why not, beags rock! So I need to tell you a little about myself.I am a sweet little girl when I get to know you and love to snuggle. I have some shyness in me, but it is not you, I am sometimes not sure about new people when I meet them. I will let anyone pet me, though, big or small. But most of the time you have to make the first move and come to me.
I met foster daddy’s 4 nephews and nieces one night, ages 3 to 12. I got along with them all and gave attention to each one. And at an adoption event I let all the kids come up to me and pet me.
My foster parents have a beag girl of their own. I get along great w/ my foster sister. But she is a totally mellow beag and goes her own way and does not interact with me except to lay on the couch together.
I have been to BREW BeagleFest, a doggie daycare and a doggie playgroup. There were lots of dogs and people at each event, and I was very overwhelmed. I mostly sat in a corner at these outings and just watched what was going on. But at our adoption event this month, with just a few dogs and less people, I was more at ease. I would say go and say hi to the other dogs, but if they got excited at something I just sat back and watched.
Foster daddy says that big group/area settings seem to overwhelm me a little. I do much better in smaller group/area settings. But he thinks with some work I could get used to bigger environment settings.
I have done pretty well with my housetraining. I am still working on going to the door, but have gotten much better at doing so. But foster daddy says I give you very obvious signs when I need to go, and when I have had accidents, he knows it is because he missed the signs that I needed to go out.
I ride in the car very well; I normally just curl up on the back seat. I also have done very well in my crate during the day. I have not had one accident in there, and have been in there up to 9 hours. Foster daddy has also just gated me in the kitchen area, and I have been good.I have not really shown any interest in playing with toys or balls. But foster daddy has seen a few glimpses of playfulness.
I do love walks, as soon as I know we are going, I sit by the door just waiting to go, and I will walk as long as you will. I do have the normal beagle nose, so hang on if I see a rabbit or a squirrel.
Foster daddy says overall I am a great little girl; I might just need a little extra time to warm up to you. He says I would be fine as an only dog, but could also work as a 2nd dog, but a mellower, lower key buddy might be best. He is not sure how I would do with a buddy that was full of energy and wanting to play.
So if I seem like the beag for you, be sure to contact BREW and ask them about Rinnie.
P.S. As you can see I also had to show foster daddy how to catch fish, who cares if it was out of a bucket, I bet he has never caught one out of a bucket !!!
