My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

MEET HOPE -
MEET HOPE -

This Beautiful, 2 yr old, 29 lb, smooth, red, female DoxBull a cross of big standard dachshund and a pitbull), HOPE was saved from death camp devore in California at the end of last year. One of our amazing volunteers drove to Los Angeles to pick her up from the shelter where she had spent 5 months. Despite her traumatic early life, HOPE just loves to be loved and wants hugs and kisses...basically, she thinks she is a lap dog. She is one of the favorites here at the rescue. HOPE is incredibly loyal and fun loving...she will be your friend for life. HOPE is very high energy - she plays, hikes, runs and is extremely loving and affectionate. While not a fan of small dogis, she gets along well with bigger dogs and runs around the rescue with the bigger male doxies...she even fetches. She does loves squeaker toys, enjoys her huge wire crate filled with blankets and enjoys bully sticks to chew on. She is 29 lbs of love and wants a forever home more than anything.

Like all Dachshunds, HOPE is high energy and enjoys playing and warming her little bones in the sunshine, so along with regular walks around her neighborhood, this gorgeous doxbull needs a large, secure fenced area to run, explore and play safely. She loves to chase and just be in the outdoors. HOPE is a fantastic jumper and can 'leap 4ft fences in a single bound,' so she will need a home with a secure yard with at least a 6ft fence so she can play at home safely. While small in stature, doxies are big on personality and don't generally do well in apartments, with all of the noises and traffic that come with multiple dwellings in a confined space. To best set up our doxies and their new families for success, ODR, Inc., adopt to families who live in single family homes with secure fenced yards.

OUR CRITERIA (aka The Fine Print):

Based on 30 years of experience with rescue doxies, we have pretty strict criteria. Do you work from home/stay at home/work part time? Have a securely fenced yard? We do not place same gender dogs in a home unless they were raised together, and children need to be 10 or older (some exceptions IF the dog is a puppy or the child has been raised with a doxie). We prefer non smokers and a home with no other small animals (ferrets, hamsters, etc). Cats are on a case by case basis depending on the dog. Remember, these are rescues; many were surrendered because of these issues.

WHAT YOU GET IN RETURN WITH YOUR LITTLE RESCUE:

All our dogs are fully vetted, including spay/neuter, rabies, DHPP, Bordetella, Pyrantyl, nails trimmed, and dental when needed. They'll come with a basket of goodies, food, toys and a custom made harness. The adoption fee is $395, sorry no exceptions, as this covers the cost to rescue them, vet them and take care of them while in our rescue. It also helps towards the care of other doxies that come with huge vet or dental bills or need extensive behavioral training.

Can you give HOPE the happy, carefree life that she deserves and has been looking for? If interested, please complete the adoption questionnaire at www.odr-inc.org and email it to: jrangan@comcast.net. The adoption committee will attempt to be in touch with you within 48 -72 hours. Please be patient as we are solely volunteer run.
