Cookie's Story...
NOTE: This is a courtesy posting for another rescuer. Please do not contact ARRF, as we do not know this pet personally. Be sure to contact the foster organization whose information is listed below directly--see http://www.sddac.com.

It is very sad that such a sweet girl like Cookie finds herself homeless this holiday season.

Cookie is a gentle, sweet, and quiet senior Labrador Retriever mix that would make a wonderful companion for a senior or retired person. She is about 10 years old, spayed, and weighs about 50 lbs. She walks well on her leash, and appears to be housetrained. She thrives on affection, and being petted. We have not tested her with cats, but at the shelter she has shown little interest in other dogs, so may also do well in a multi-dog household.

Meet this pet at County of San Diego Department of Animal Services, 2481 Palomar Airport Road, Carlsbad 92011. Open Tuesdays - Saturdays, 9:30 am - 5:30 pm. Closed Sundays, Mondays and holidays. For more information, go to http://www.sddac.com .

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Cookie, a Vista Labrador Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Labrador Retriever for sale in Vista, or seeking a Labrador Retriever dog from a breeder in Vista.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Vista already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Vista breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever breeders who help with Labrador Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Vista paves the way for another one to be saved.
