My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Thanks for choosing rescue! By adopting a southern rescue dog, you help to create space so that we can save another pet from homelessness, or euthanasia for space. Why are southern dogs coming north to be adopted? Because our states lack any sort of enforcement of even the weakest animal welfare laws. There are no real spay/neuter laws, very few low cost spay/neuter resources. There is no limitation on breeding. It’s a free for all and while most people in the south care very much for their pets, without intervention some people allow their pets to roam and breed, or breed them deliberately. There are not enough adopters here to provide homes for all of these wonderful animals. All sizes, all breeds, all ages of pets can end up without a home. So we make our adoptable pets available to a wide geographic distance in hopes of finding homes for more.

We want our rescued pets to have loving, permanent homes and will do all that we can to match them with the right home and family. Please let us know what you are looking for in a new pet (i.e.personality, activity level, and family compatibility)so that we can help you find the perfect new family member! Pet ownership is a commitment of many years, and you will receive many years of joy and love from your new pet.

We are not a shelter, we are a rescue and all of our rescued pets live with a Tennessee foster family until their forever home is found. They are all checked by a veterinarian, current on their vaccinations, spayed/neutered are micro-chipped. Our fosters know the animals best and will give you an honest assessment of their traits and training. At this time we do not have fosters in Pennsylvania and so we can not facilitate pre adoption meetings.

Our adoption fee is $450 which includes all vet care and transport costs. Not all animals in our care are eligible to travel on pet transport. If you would like to consider an animal that is not eligible for pet transport, and you are willing to come get your pet, please let us know. You can find pets that are not transport eligible by using 38305 as the zip code for your search on this adoption site. If you come to pick up a pet then you will pay only our base adoption fee of $200.

If you are interested in adopting a pet from Saving The Animals Together, please submit an application by clicking on the “Adopt From Us” tab at www.savingtheanimalstogether.org.
As soon as we receive your application back, we will check your references and then contact you for a telephone interview. At that point the foster will contact you to discuss the pet with you.
