Jade's Story...
Jade (black) is super chill. She was estimated by the vet to be 2-3 years old. Occasionally she will play with a toy or two but generally she likes to cat nap and follow the sun most of the day. She’s not a cuddly cat, nor does she try to be underfoot, but she is always nearby keeping an eye on her fosterer. Loud noises, visitors, and even vacuuming don’t faze Jade in the least.

Jade gets along great with kitten Emma in her foster home. Jade (black) and Emma (calico kitten) had never met before we placed them together in a foster home and now they keep each other company. Write to us at hydeparkcatsadoptions@gmail.com to meet them. This foster pair can be adopted together or separately.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Jade, a Chicago Domestic Shorthair cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Shorthair for sale in Chicago, or seeking a Domestic Shorthair cat from a breeder in Chicago.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Chicago already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Chicago breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Chicago paves the way for another one to be saved.
