Mr. Chubby Cheeks's Story...
This handsome buff-and-white boy was rescued from a shelter in Maryland. He got an appropriate name because while he isn't overweight, he does have the chubby cheeks. He has golden eyes, a white chest, white feet and a raccoon-striped tail.

This sweet boy is quietly affectionate with a subtle purr. He doesn't care to be picked up and held, preferring to have his paws on a solid surface so he can be ready at any moment to go do important kitty things. He does like to be petted and to get his chin scratched, and he will wind around your ankles to show affection. He enjoys batting around catnip-scented toys such as little fabric mice, as well as ping pong balls. He uses an upright sisal rope scratching post and sometimes likes to have a little bit of catnip sprinkled on that as well. He has fine litter box manners.

He needs to have a good quality wet food as his primary diet and has been enjoying the Fancy Feast Classic and Marinated Morsels flavors, twice daily. He also likes Purina Cat Chow as his kibble, but if given that first he will fill up on it and leave the wet food -- so the wet food should instead be fed first with a little kibble as his "dessert". He can also have some kibble available to snack on during the day.

We don't know his history with other cats, but we think he would be OK with other cats with the proper introductions. Helpful guidelines for the process of introducing cats are posted on our website. He would probably also be fine as an only pet.

Mr. Chubby Cheeks was born in December 2010. He has been neutered, tested negative for FIV and FeLV, is current on his vaccinations, and has been micro-chipped.

Mr. Chubby Cheeks, a Merrifield Domestic Shorthair cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Shorthair for sale in Merrifield, or seeking a Domestic Shorthair cat from a breeder in Merrifield.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Merrifield already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Merrifield breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Merrifield paves the way for another one to be saved.
