Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Elfie is a 45 pound Shepherd mix, about a year and half old. She's the mother of nine puppies who we found living with her under the porch of a vacant rental house. Here's what she would say if she could:
"I was told my puppies all found really good homes in December. That's wonderful, but what about me? I am still a puppy at heart, just full grown. Everyone who sees me says I look like a Dingo! But I don't act like a wild dog-- I am house-trained and leash-trained. I am also super smart, and know to stay on my doggy bed during the day and put myself to bed in my crate at night. Although the slippery wood floors scared me at first, I really like being an inside dog and having floors below my feet instead of right above my head. I've learned to be on my best behavior at all times: I only bark at mealtimes when the service is slow, or before walks when-- you guessed it-- my foster mom is slow bringing out the leash. I like everyone I meet, both 2 legged and 4. Come see for yourself how wonderful I am!"
Elfie is everything she says! She has a lot of youthful energy, and needs long walks or jogs in addition to off-leash exercise. She loves to play, and would be the perfect second dog if yours is looking for a playmate. Elfie is not a barker unless she's excited and trying to tell you something. She would do best with older children who know how to approach her without scaring her. Because she is both smart and curious, she should not be left alone unsupervised for long periods of time . With the right dog-savvy person, Elfie would be the ideal dog.
Elfie's adoption fee of $300 includes vet exam, heartworm test, DHAPP (distemper combo) vaccination, Bordetella vaccination, rabies vaccination, microchip, deworming, flea and tick prevention, heartworm preventative, and spay.
