Skippy's Story...
Hello, my name is Skippy and I'd like to tell you my story. I am a female dog estimated to be 3 years old. The vet thinks I am a Whippet mix. I guess I'll go along with that.

I was found abandoned and no one came forward to claim me so I arrived at the shelter. I am very friendly, I love attention from the volunteers and I am trying to learn to properly walk on a leash.

Being a Whippet mix I love to jump. I get love to play with other dogs too! But most of all I'd like a furrever family to call my own.

Skippy resides at a rescue organization in Arkansas. Please contact Gail Ross at 870-431-8229, or via email at to discuss this dog. You can find our adoption application by going to and clicking on the Adoption Application tab. The application, when completed and submitted, will be electronically sent to Gail’s email address.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Skippy, a Oakland Whippet dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Whippet for sale in Oakland, or seeking a Whippet dog from a breeder in Oakland.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Oakland already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Oakland breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Whippet breeders who help with Whippet rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Oakland paves the way for another one to be saved.
