My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Biggie and Jada are 7 year old mastiffs that were surrendered to our AHS Newark facility by their owner who could no longer care for them. The two were just beside themselves with grief and confusion as to why they were taken from their home and brought to an unfamiliar place, but at least they still had each other for comfort. We immediately began mending their broken hearts, and checking them out medically as well. Both were thin, sickly and neglected when they arrived. After lots of good medical care and TLC, Biggie overcame his upper respiratory infection and Jada did as well, but she also needed several teeth removed due to dental disease that was never treated. We also discovered that a lump on Jada's shoulder blade that was removed was malignant. Jada has adenocarcinoma and her condition will need to be monitored indefinitely. No treatment is necessary but unfortunately, we cannot determine how much time Jada has left. Whether it's a couple of months or a couple of years, we just want Jada to be with her best friend, Biggie, until the end. The pair are such gentle giants and don't ask for much from you to make them happy. They're very well behaved and despite their age, they're both very active as well. They don't mind other larger dogs and would do best in a home with more mature children. Biggie and Jada have so much love to give, and they would brighten your life if you would consider opening your heart and home to this deserving couple. File#25795 & 25796 11/14/15
