Sweet Georgia is an outgoing, active girl looking for love and a home to call her own. A bit about Georgia:

* High energy, active, playful girl who is looking for an active family to take her on hikes and adventures
* She loves playing with other dogs and could live with a canine companion who has her rough-and-tumble play style!
* Georgia is a very smart girl and will be fun to do some positive-reinforcement training to teach her basic obedience
* Georgia is best-suited to an adult only home due to her excitability. Since going into foster she has learned that it is not acceptable behaviour to be mouthy but will need continued work with this.
* She would enjoy a home where she will not be left home alone for more than 5-6 hours at a time (though currently when left she has the company of another dog)and will need to build up to these longer periods of time alone
* Georgia is best suited to a home with a yard
* Her interest in felines is a little too intense so she is not suited to a home with a cat...she can also be quite wary of people in uniforms so working to counter-condition her perception and help it become positive is important.

Georgia's foster mom reports that she has met lot of dogs and people, she has really shown her affectionate nature, leaning into the legs of random strangers for pets and belly rubs! Georgia is here at our shelter if you'd like to meet her!

About BC SPCA - Vancouver Branch

About Our Shelter...

Our Mission:

The BC SPCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in British Columbia. Through its 36 branches located around BC and its provincial office in Vancouver, the BC SPCA provides a wide range of services for more than 53,000 homeless, abused, and abandoned animals around the province. The BC SPCA was created under the auspices of the provincial Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, and is the only animal welfare organization in BC which has the authority to enforce laws relating to animal cruelty and to prepare cases for Crown Counsel for the prosecution of individuals who inflict suffering on animals.

Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

3. Freedom from distress

4. Freedom from discomfort

5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
