My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Dusty is a 3-4 year old male beagle that was dumped off at a high kill shelter in Kentucky by a guy that said he had too many dogs. We don’t know much about Dusty but think he lived outside by himself and was fed poorly. He may have been used for breeding as the female that came in with him had been bred multiple times. He was not socialized and is still very shy but warming up to his foster family more and more each day.
Dusty weighs 25-30 lbs. and is very playful. He loves being outside and likes to run around in the fenced yard. We think he would be best with a secured fence so he can run and play. After playing he enjoys his snuggle time and is very lovable. He loves the foster family’s 3 year old granddaughter and likes to snuggle with her. He is ok with other dogs and enjoys playing with them but protects his food. For this reason we think he would be best as on only dog.
He doesn’t like the leash and his foster family is working on that. Right now it terrifies him. Must be something from his past.
He doesn’t like his crate and they are working on that also. But they do leave him lose in the house when they are at work and he does just fine. At night he sleeps either in a dog bed, on the couch or with his foster family.
Dusty does not potty in the house and has access to a dog door.
He is a sweet dog that just needs a chance with someone that will be patient and teach him how to be a dog.
Is that someone you?
