My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi there! My name is Brenda Lee Barnbuster! I am friendly, loving and sweet – an all-around happy girl with a contagious smile and wagging tail. I adore people, including kids, and enjoy sharing affection and companionship. I am housetrained and crate trained. I love to take car rides and to spend time with people. I’m a great family dog! I get along well with other dogs my size or larger. I like to play with them. I like to play with dogs toys as well. Romping in the snow, catching snowflakes and rolling in the grass are some of my favorite outdoor activities. I love being petted and loved – scratch my head, my back, my butt and I’m in heaven. Snoozing on the couch or in the comfy bed with you is one of my favorite things, too. I also like to take walks and to run in the yard. I’m a smart girl who knows sit, come and down. I prefer a home with no small dogs and no cats. If you have room for a cuddly dog in your heart and home, please give me a chance! Adoption fee: $75. Fee includes testing, deworming, vaccinations, spay/neuter, 60 days of free pet insurance and microchip.

NOTE ABOUT BREED LABELING: Visual breed identification of dogs is unreliable and usually inaccurate. So, for most of our adoptable dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label.

Why is labeling a dog such a big deal? A label will stick with a dog for the rest of its life. A label can mean discrimination, losing its home or even death. Labels are a problem for the dogs when we, as the local experts on animals, allow adopters, politicians and community members to think that the label we assign can predict who that dog is or will be.
