Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Hey! Hey! Heyheyheyhey! You there! Okay, now that I’ve gotten your attention, I’d like to introduce myself. I am Kane! I am a 2 year old bundle of energy and kisses, and I want to be your forever beagle! Actually, my foster family thinks I might have a little dachshund in me, because my nose is a little pointy, my body is a little longer than usual, and my front feet turn out a little, all common dachshund traits. I think it just makes me more handsome!
Have you heard of the hockey All Star Patrick Kane? I was named after him, and I can tell you why! I am speedy and active just like him, and I have skills on and off the ice. My foster mom takes me to the dog park often, and I hit the gate running and don’t stop until it’s time to leave! I also love long walks and exploring every inch of the neighborhood and area parks. I am a tireless and fearless athlete!
I also score a lot of points on charm, just like Patrick Kane. I have the same silly lopsided grin, and I never met a person or a dog I didn’t like. To be honest, there are a few dogs that haven’t liked me, but that’s because I want to play with every dog I meet, and sometimes I just have too much energy for older or shy dogs. I haven’t ever played with a hockey puck, but I can entertain myself chasing and tossing a tennis ball around. I’m also a pretty good goalie when mom tosses the ball towards me. I tell you, I should be in the NHL! I ride well in the car, but make sure I am tethered or I will try to climb on your head and kiss your face!
When it’s time to slow down, I like nothing better than snuggling up beside my foster peoples, and although foster mom sometimes calls me spring loaded, after smothering your face in kisses, I settle down in the evening really well. I’m also great in the crate when she is not at home and overnight. I might whine for a couple seconds, but then I just lie down and snooze until it’s time to come out and play again.
Since I’m so active, I probably wouldn’t do well with young toddlers or kids in the house, but I’d be great with older kids who love to play and take me for walks. I seem to scare off the cats I have met, but I don’t want to hurt them, just play with them! I am housetrained, and only had one accident in my foster home. That was when foster mom ignored my signal when I went to the door and told her I needed out. Whoops! Foster mom is using treats to teach me to sit and not jump all over people, and it’s working pretty well. I’ve learned I have to have some manners when I go to my forever home. Maybe you don’t have an All Star hockey player in your house, but you COULD have me! Kane, the All Star Beagle! I’ll be waiting for your call!
