My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Our sweet and so very cute Choco couldn't be more loving no matter how hard he tried. Choco is a 2.5 - 3 year old, 10 lb beautiful Border Collie mix. It's very difficult to tell from his awful shelter photo..but Choco is stunning with a cottony, shining coat and dark, expressive eyes with so much wisdom (we'll update with a post-shelter photo). Ten pounds is so tiny for a Border Collie mix but after some research, we found that Mini Border Collies do exist...we can't say for certain that Choco is that breed but he looks exactly like the photos.

Choco is just waiting to be the love of someone's life. Choco has had a challenging 9 - 12 months ending up slated for euthanasia in a high-kill Texas shelter... but is now safe and sound…never to be cold or hungry again. But with it all, Choco doesn't hold a grudge and desires only to be the best companion possible. Since he is so young, Choco is a blank slate…open to all possibilities if treated kindly and with respect. Group training classes with his family and a positive reinforcement trainer would truly serve both Choco and his people. Together they will learn the skills to have him be a dog that is well-behaved in every situation. It also creates strong bonds of respect between pup and family.

Choco may initially be a bit shy when he's in new situations…but with love (hugs and playtime are awesome) and respect…and of course some great treats…Choco is on his way to his favorite people's lap! He would also love to come along, be it to a dog-friendly workplace, on vacation or socializing..Choco would love to be there as Best Friend #1.
Choco's Texas foster mom (who has fallen in love with this engaging little guy) had the following to say about Choco:
Choco is absolutely the perfect little gentleman (initially shy but that's totally understandable) and the sweetest baby ever! I have been a foster forever - and never, ever have I fallen for a dog the way I have for Choco! We've gone back and forth on keeping him (we've never considered that possibility before-he's that special) but we know that we have to leave that spot open to help save another life through fostering.

Choco is the cutest tiny Border CollieX ever with a lot of positive energy and tail wags. He follows us everywhere we go but is not intrusive or needy. He now chews on certain bones and is becoming more secure each day. Choco loves our mini schnauzer and does well with our other dogs (cats unknown). I think he would be happy if there was another dog in the house as he's very social but it's not mandatory for his happiness. Choco is moving slowly toward perfect and the best companion! He's been such a joy we can barely stand to see him go while wishing him the best life ever.

We envision Choco in a home that will provide him exercise and stimulation. He wouldn't be happy spending long hours alone…he's far too people-oriented to be happy with that. A retired couple or individual or a person who works from home would be great. Choco would love the companionship and consistency of those relationships. Being so young, he'd also learn that he's loved and cared for…a lesson that results in a happy and confident adult dog.

Choco will be arriving on transport in Denver on 1/15/16.. Applications are currently being accepted and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/. If you're interested in this sweet and fun-loving companion, please fill out and return to farfelsapps@gmail.com.
