My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Ellie is a very special girl. She was listed as special needs when I first got her, but since then, I have discovered that her handicap does not hold her back at all. She was found wandering the Walmart parking lot in North Georgia. She ended up spending a month in the local shelter unclaimed and running out of time. She is young. Probably less than a year. She is missing her right front leg. We assumed she had an amputation, but after careful examination by a vet, there was no scar to be found. It is most likely a birth defect. Since she is a Manx, her back legs are longer and this tends to make her lower in the front and hop more than walk. She has no trouble jumping up on things with those powerful back legs, but getting down is a little precarious. I am afraid she may injure her only leg if she gets up too high. She is very adventurous and has remarkable drawer and cabinet opening abilities. This has gotten her into a few predicaments. She will need an adopter who is looking for a very interactive cat who is daring and adventurous. She would probably like to be an only cat, but she has made peace with a few of the kitties here in her foster home. She gets along fine with the ones that don't confront her. She is not afraid of anything and stares danger in the eye. On the other hand, she is extremely sweet and loving. She is fine with the small dogs that live here, but I have a feeling that a big dog would not scare her at all. She will stand up for herself even though she is at a disadvantage. She would not do well in a home with an elderly person as she tends to dart about and has tripped me a few times. Like most Manx, she has dog-like qualities, such as begging for food. If you are looking for a quirky and interactive new family member and are willing to make your home safe for Ellie, please contact me at scratchcats@gmail.com.
