My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

In addition to the following profile for this dog, please first read the Adoption Information at http://www.shihtzurescuemn.org/adopt.html to understand the process, requirements and timeline for adoption. An adoption application can also be found in the Adoption Info section. If, after reading that information, you have any questions, please submit your question via e-mail and it will be answered. Please do not request a phone call. A personal phone call will only be made when an adoption application has been submitted and the foster parent wishes to consider the application. Thank you!

Cocoa and Pancho are an eight year old bonded pair who must be adopted together. Cocoa is a tiny 10 pound female and Pancho is a 17 pound male. Cocoa is a feisty little gal and Pancho is very laid back, so they fit together nicely. Pancho has had teeth removed so his tongue frequently hangs out on his right side which gives him an adorable look. They are pretty well housetrained if kept on a regular schedule. They enjoy their daily walks and playing outside in their foster mom's fenced in yard. Pancho rides in the car very well and Cocoa settles down after a short bit, and both do very well considering they have not traveled much before.

The ideal home for Cocoa and Pancho is one where their family is home most of the time. They came into rescue because they had been kenneled 12-14 hours every day. They are enjoying their freedom, and the anxiety and other issues they previously had are now gone because they are free to move about their foster mom's home and they are receiving attention. They get along well with other small dogs and people. They are afraid of strangers at first and will bark, so ongoing exposure to get them more comfortable and trusting of people will be needed, but they have made good progress. They were raised with older children and would enjoy the attention from gentle, well behaved children.

Cocoa is spayed and Pancho is neutered, and both are current on vaccinations and are microchipped. Their adoption fee is $340.00 plus $24.74 sales tax for a total of $364.74 for the pair. This is a reduction of $100.00 for adopting a pair. Their foster mom would like them to be adopted by a home in the immediate Twin Cities area so she can visit them once in a while. She would also like their new family to attend our Rescue Reunion which will be held September 10th, 2016.

To meet Cocoa and Pancho, please complete an adoption application. Or you can also see them and the other dogs available for adoption from Shih Tzu Rescue of Minnesota by visiting with us from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Minnetonka Petco near Ridgedale the last Saturday of every month.
