My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Little Ms. Hollie found herself in a precarious position in a very high kill shelter in South Carolina. She was too shy and terrified in that noisy shelter to be considered adoptable so she was headed to the euthanasia list if a rescue could not be found. Once out of the shelter and in a comfortable setting, Hollie blossomed like a beautiful rose and is the HAPPIEST, friendliest dog her foster has ever had. Hollie never stops smiling, and her foster family’s nickname for her is “Hollie-Jolly”! She is a lovable, snuggly, huggable, velcro dog who will follow you everywhere you go. She cuddles in every night with her 15 year old foster’s daughter, and is willing to snuggle with anyone on the couch.

Hollie is guestimated to be about 2-3 years old, she’s house broken and is full grown at about 40 lbs. Our best guess on breed is a Terrier mix (we never guarantee breed with rescue dogs!). Hollie gets along great with other dogs, and loves to wrestle, chase and play with dogs of any size. She loves playing with toys, chewing bones and she loves treats! She is very smart, has mastered basic commands, and is great on a leash (she LOVES walks!). Hollie is also a fetch dog with a simple tennis ball, and believe it or not, she loves chasing laser lights! Hollie is cat friendly (her foster has two cats), but she tries to play with them and sometimes the cats tire of it. Also, Hollie is reserved and nervous around strangers which we’re sure is why she was pegged as timid at the shelter. She warms up quickly, but her foster has been working with her on feeling more confident when meeting new people. We are seeking an adopter who is willing to continue on with her training so Hollie can master this important social skill.

Because Hollie loves to play and wrestle, we recommend her for families with kids 10 years and older since young children can get knocked over easily and think dog toys are their toys. Hollie would be great in a home with another dog. Hollie is heartworm negative and has been started on HW prevention. She is spayed, microchipped, dewormed, and up to date on all vaccines.
