Pete's Story...
Mr. Pete is a one year old beagle (maybe a little under a year) that recently came to our rescue and has been living in a foster home. When we first came to us he was a bit shy & fearful, but he has really come out of his shell in a short amount of time! He is even starting to turn into quite a cuddle bug! Being around other dogs really perks up Pete. He is more at ease and they help build his confidence. A forever home with another dog(s) would be just great. His foster home does not have cats, but he has visited a home with cats and did not have any problems. Pete is crated during the day and has been improving on his house-training every day. He is still a little skittish, but walks fine on a leash. If you would like to consider making Pete a part of your family, please complete an application at www.henricohumane.org to get started!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Pete, a Richmond Beagle dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Beagle for sale in Richmond, or seeking a Beagle dog from a breeder in Richmond.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Richmond already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Richmond breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Beagle breeders who help with Beagle rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Richmond paves the way for another one to be saved.
